Foundation Flash 8 Video

Creator: Tom Green, Jordan L. Chilcott | 2006-06-19

In fact, you really can't play any FLV file in a web page unless it is played through a Flash SWF. Flash Professional 8 makes the addition of video to a Flash movie even easier and more intuitive than in the past.

Publisher: Friends of Ed

About this book
In this book you'll learn: The basics of video editing using Movie Maker 2, iMovie, and more How to import your video into Flash How to work with Flash Video components Several of the new features of Flash 8, including alpha channels, filters, and blends How to master several amazing video effects, such as green screen superimposing, video walls, getting your users into the thick of the action with webcams, and much more! Do you want to master Flash video work, and work your way toward creating awesome, mind-blowing, interactive web applications? Well, don't go any furtherthis full color book is all you need to step into the future. When Flash Professional 8 was released, it seemed as if we'd embarked on a web video revolution almost overnight. Up until then, web video was a morass of competing players, technologies, standards, codecs, and playback quality. The inclusion of the On2 VP6 codec, the FLV Playback component, alpha channel video, and the Flash 8 Video Encoder has ended the infancy of web video, creating an instant benchmark with no stops in between. And this book is the ultimate guide to Flash 8 videoit offers practical advice, technical guidance, and a full series of creative projects ranging from the dead simple to the complex in a manner that talks to you as an equal and makes only one assumption: basic familiarity with the Flash interface. We start with the basicshow to edit video in some of the most popular packages available (such as iMovie and Movie Maker 2) and create a Flash video file and import it into Flash. Next, we move on to the good stuffcreating a custom video player; creating an alpha channel video and using it in some spectacular projects; turning your creativity loose by applying filters and blend effects to video using the Flash interface and ActionScript; creating video walls, menus, and stunning masking effects; and exploring how Adobe After Effects 7 and Flash Professional 8 are poised to become a motion graphics powerhouse. Best of all, you will discover something the authors had discovered by the time they started writing this book...this stuff is fun! Summary of Contents: Creating FLVs using the Video Wizard and the Flash 8 FLV Encoder The Basics of Video Creation Alternate FLV Creation tools: Sorenson Squeeze 4 and Flix Pro 5 Creating Flash Video using the FLV Components Creating a "Talking head" video using Alpha Channels Adding Filters and Blend Effects to Flash Video Masking Video Creating a Video Wall Choosing and Playing Multiple Videos Using the Camera Object to Involve the Audience Actionscript and Flash Video Video Delivery to Cell Phones

Flash 8, Projects for Learning Animation and INteractivity

Creator: Rich Shupe, Robert Hoekman | 2006-04-04

Publisher: O'Reilly Media

About this book
Macromedia Flash is fast becoming the Web's most widely used platform for creating rich media with animation and motion graphics, but mastering Flash isn't easy. Most entry-level books teach through simple examples that concentrate on either animation or scripting, but rarely both together. To get the most from Flash 8, you not only need to be proficient in programming/interface design, you need the creativity for story telling and the artistic insights to design fluid animation. Flash 8: Projects for Learning Animation and Interactivityteaches Flash design rather than simply Flash itself. With a standalone series of walkthroughs and tutorials for Flash beginners coming from a graphics field, this book teaches Flash in the context of real-world projects. Rather than learn a Flash tool for the sake of it, you learn which areas of Flash are important, and which are less used, simply by seeing how typical content is actually created. And rather than a text-heavy approach, this graphically rich book leads you through hands-on examples by illustration. Each project in the book starts with goals and broad sketches before moving to design and scripting. This helps you understand design intent-the why of the process-rather than just learning the interfaces and the how of it all. Along the way, you'll create Flash content that includes traditional animation techniques (as seen in full-length animated features), and ActionScript-based interactive animation, such as custom web site interface designs. You also learn how to combine both traditional animation techniques and ActionScript to create feature-rich Flash assets from the ground up. Co-authored by educational developers with years of experience creating compelling content, interfaces, and applications, Flash 8: Projects for Learning Animation and Interactivityoffers a content-driven approach that is also inspiration-driven. You learn because you're accomplishing something tangible, not because you think you need to know how a tool works. If you want to understand how various features of Flash come together to create a final end design, this book provides you with both the insight and the know-how.

(Electronics) This product disproves the old saying about things that seem too good to be true. This little peanut shaped EZcap and the software that comes with it does the job of products costing hundreds more. It does everything it is advertised to do with a very small learning curve. It comes with a downloadable manual that explains and illustrates exactly how to do everything. I am in the process of downloading years of family video tapes from my VCR to my computer, editing them and making professional looking DVD's with all kinds of neat titles and special effedcts. I have used it on both Vista and Windows 7 computers. A little driver tweak was necessary to get it to work with Windows 7. Shipping took only a couple days and the supplier e-mailed me after I received it to see if I had any questions. At nearly 70 years of age, this little item may be the best value I have ever received for the money spent. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 25, 2010

One was a fire-wire device for $200 and the other was the EZcap device. Since I only occasionally convert video, I went for the much cheaper solution. The product works but there is a problem with the sound USB driver included in the package. It did not work!. Found this on You Tube [...]. This shows how to install sound drivers and has link to working driver. Only other problem I saw while digitizing my videos is the sound would drop out momentarily while recording. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 1, 2010

This review is from: AVERMEDIA C039 DVD EZMaker 7 (Electronics) We needed to transfer all our old VHS home videos to digital format. We looked into companies that do it for you, but it was $30 or more PER TAPE! We decided to try out this product first, and it's worked beautifully! Definitely worth the money - it saved us so much in the long run to be able to convert our videos ourselves. The only caution I would give is to be sure you have enough room on your computer hard drive (or an external drive) to store the large raw files that it produces before you edit them. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 6, 2012

The included software loaded slowly, but works OK. A little slow, but I guess that's to impel one to buy the upgraded software. To hook up to a VCR, you'll need a patch cord between the VCR and included cords. If this review spares one person from making the similar mistake, I'll be glad.Like lots of folks out there, I have old personal videos on VHS, VHS-C, and 8mm tape, and I'd like to convert them to digital to share and store. The cost of having that done is a bit off-putting, and you just have to leave off your old tapes (or mail them) with someone and hope they do a good job of it. Having captured video in the past from magnetic media via (now antiquated) capture cards, I took a peek online and found that since then, the hardware has come a long way! Now you can also EASILY capture the sound along with the video (used to be more to that), and it's all in a convenient USB device that's all external.I thought I could save a lot of $ by trying to convert my own videos, with less than a $20 investment, and I assumed I could lick the... 5/5 DiannaCam "DiannaCam" (Neptune) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great little camcorder, except...

I have used many video cameras in my life, but I have never owned one until now. I worked at audio/video stores for several years and saw lots of different formats and brands come and go. Never a fan of the VHS format or its junky little brother, Compact VHS, I knew 8mm was the way to go, at least back then. Nowadays, though, Mini DV seems to be taking over with even smaller cassettes and better picture quality. However, I don't have that kind of money to afford a DV or Digital 8mm camcorder. Yet.Enter the TRV-108, a nifty little video camera that uses the HiBand 8mm format, superior to 8mm, but certainly not in the ballpark of Digital8 or DV. Still, its compact size and light weight make it easy to carry around almost anywhere and given the first 8mm camcorder I ever used was big enough that part of it sat on my shoulder, this is a great improvement. It comes with a 160 minute `InfoLithium' battery and little else except a lens cap and strap. It takes great pictures and has a... 4/5 Mark Hills "Nobody gets me, I'm the wind, baby!" Poor battery life mars a decent camcorder

Hi8 is fast fading into oblivion as MiniDV takes over the world and gets cheaper. If you want good video quality, you should go with a namebrand MiniDV camcorder -- I recommend Sony, Panasonic and Canon. On the other hand, if you don't shoot a lot of videos and want something cheap, the Hi8 is still a good way to go. (I bought the TRV108 as a gift but tested it before giving it to my uncle-in-law.)To someone who's used to MiniDV camcorders, the TRV108 feels big. It's actually normal for a 8mm camcorder. The LCD screen is sharp and bright -- but as we shall see later, also a battery hog. The traditional eye-piece viewfinder is b&w, which is bad if you want to use it to conserve battery power. The TRV108 gives out good video quality on Hi8 tapes. I would rate it "high" for a Hi8 model, but even the cheapest MiniDV camcorders (except for Samsung) can match such quality -- plus they offer more bells and whistles. One nice thing is the inclusion of Sony's NightShot... 3/5 Gadgester "No Time, No Money" (Mother Earth) - See all my reviews, April 1, 2002

A very good and affordable video capture device

Customer Video Review Length:: 5:52 MinsI am very impressed with this little box. I haven't heard of Honestech before but they've put together a very affordable and very easy to use capture device that will convert your old video tapes to a standard digital format.Set up is simple: plug one end of the included composite cables to the outputs on the VCR and the other into the Vidbox. Then just connect the Vidbox to the Mac via the included USB cable, install the software, and you're off and running. There really isn't much to configure: the software will guide you through a step-by-step process and at the end will present a file that you can have transferred to iTunes, iMovie, or iDVD. The recorded file will also remain in a directory off your home directory so you can copy it off to an external hard drive or some other device. My only gripe is that it may not offer enough flexibility for more advanced users. I couldn't find any options for changing the default storage... 5/5 Lon J. Seidman "lon@ lon.tv" (CT) - See all my reviews, September 29, 2013

Easy to Install and Easy to Use

First off, I am using a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion). I put the included CD into the computer, however, if you have a Mac and it does not have a disk drive you can download the software and driver package from the manufacture's website (DMG). The install was easy, you run the Package file that installs the drivers and than you drag the actual Application to the Application folder. That was it, it was installed. To copy video from any device (SVIDEO or Composite) you plug the little white box into the computer using Mini USB (cable included) and than plug in the video source to either composite (included) or SVIDEO (will need to use Composite for audio). The software is easy to use and is a simple interview like type where you just answer and follow each step. I do not see the point of the choose input type, since it seems that it will record the same no matter what. The Tapes They are A-wasting

VHS tapes, like most things, deteriorate over time, just faster because they are essentially magnetized chemicals stuck to tape. They degrade and wear. Besides, the technology, as you know, is defunct. Pretty soon we will not be able to even find a working player for them easily. However, I have noticed some good films that were never transferred to DVD, mostly because of legal squabbling. So collectors take note: Buy them up while you can and save them with this device.Honestech has a simple way to keep your videos and your options by transferring the video and audio out from your tape player to your Mac. Then you can store those files where you please. That also means making back-up copies if you are a technology pessimist like me. I have cheap cloud accounts from both Apple and Amazon, so I can just use cheap storage to slap an extra copy safe in a place I can access from any machine. The set up is easy. Put in the disk and install & register. Then use... 5/5 Aceto "All Knowledge is Sorrow" - See all my reviews, November 11, 2013

Solid Long Lasting and Great Sound

I've had mine for almost 2 years and it still sounds great. I don't have a problem shutting it off, you just hold down a button to do it. If you do add video files the screen is crystal clear. However, the screen is tiny and does tend to get scratched easily. However, who buys a mp3 player to watch videos? If you aren't a snobby apple product owner and actually just want to listen to music this player is great. I bought two as presents and will continue using mine until breaks which I doubt will be anytime soon. The sound quality is great with a comprehensive EQ manager that can give you whatever sound you like the most. The automatic mood radio feature is great so if you wanna only listen to certain tempo, mood, style or whatever you want to call it you can fairly easily. The battery life is great and it hooks up easily to my car mp3 player port so I can listen in my car as well. There are better mp3 players out there I'm sure, but if you want a no nonsense bare bones mp3 player that... 5/5 Zombie4Life - See all my reviews This review is from: Sony NWZE385 16 GB Walkman MP3 Video Player (Black) (Electronics) I've had mine for almost 2 years and it still sounds great. Easy to use and great sound

I bought this for my mom in lieu of the more expensive, smaller capacity iPod Shuffle. I love Apple products, but I thought the lack of a screen to navigate the Shuffle would be too complicated for my mom. This is such a great alternative. It doesn't require you to download a program (like iTunes), plays .wma and .mp3 files and even has an FM radio. It operates just like a jump drive so you just drag and drop your music from your computer to your device. It also has an equalizer and a decent set of headphones. It is bigger than the too small Shuffle, making it easier to hold. The controls are simple and the player is very easy to navigate. I gave this to my mom pre-loaded with some of her favorite music and she absolutely loves it. I also looked at the SanDisk Sansa products, but thought they were too small. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative to an iPod, this is the way to go.UPDATE: I've seen reviews where people have a hard time turnng off the device. Very disappointing; Tacky device that won't work :(

0 2/5 MonetLover - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Ematic EM208VIDPR 1.5-Inch 8GB MP3 Video Player with FM Tuner, Purple (Electronics) Had high hopes, but found it very disappointing. The device is cute but poorly made. Terrible layout/functions of the buttons, and the switches for On/Off, etc. are cheap little brittle plastic things that don't look/act like they'll last. Worst part was that the entire system became corrupted right off the bat, so that nothing worked on it, except the radio (giving 2 stars for that). Had hoped that RESET would clear everything off and rewrite the program so we could start all over, after it got corrupted, but no such luck. The entire device is not very intuitive for navigating, the text is hard to read, the corruption made it worthless, and all in all, guess you get what you pay for! :(Returning for credit and will try something else. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 8, 2015

I got what I paid for: Cheap plastic. Do not recommend, save up for something better.

0 1/5 Joanna F - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Ematic EM208VIDPR 1.5-Inch 8GB MP3 Video Player with FM Tuner, Purple (Electronics) This device is difficult to put music on to, despite its claims of just "drag and drop". It does not sort the content between music and video, but just puts everything under video, even if it is an mp3 format. You cannot view your content as a list, but have to listen to everything in order. If you want to fast forward through a video intro, forget it. This device is less than savory, and I'm glad I didn't pay much for it, but sad that I wasted the money on it at all. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 9, 2015

It looks good on the site, but in person you can see the shoddy construction. Also, it froze at times and would get stuck on a certain song.. very annoying... 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 11, 2015
