Foundation Flash 8 Video

Creator: Tom Green, Jordan L. Chilcott | 2006-06-19

In fact, you really can't play any FLV file in a web page unless it is played through a Flash SWF. Flash Professional 8 makes the addition of video to a Flash movie even easier and more intuitive than in the past.

Publisher: Friends of Ed

About this book
In this book you'll learn: The basics of video editing using Movie Maker 2, iMovie, and more How to import your video into Flash How to work with Flash Video components Several of the new features of Flash 8, including alpha channels, filters, and blends How to master several amazing video effects, such as green screen superimposing, video walls, getting your users into the thick of the action with webcams, and much more! Do you want to master Flash video work, and work your way toward creating awesome, mind-blowing, interactive web applications? Well, don't go any furtherthis full color book is all you need to step into the future. When Flash Professional 8 was released, it seemed as if we'd embarked on a web video revolution almost overnight. Up until then, web video was a morass of competing players, technologies, standards, codecs, and playback quality. The inclusion of the On2 VP6 codec, the FLV Playback component, alpha channel video, and the Flash 8 Video Encoder has ended the infancy of web video, creating an instant benchmark with no stops in between. And this book is the ultimate guide to Flash 8 videoit offers practical advice, technical guidance, and a full series of creative projects ranging from the dead simple to the complex in a manner that talks to you as an equal and makes only one assumption: basic familiarity with the Flash interface. We start with the basicshow to edit video in some of the most popular packages available (such as iMovie and Movie Maker 2) and create a Flash video file and import it into Flash. Next, we move on to the good stuffcreating a custom video player; creating an alpha channel video and using it in some spectacular projects; turning your creativity loose by applying filters and blend effects to video using the Flash interface and ActionScript; creating video walls, menus, and stunning masking effects; and exploring how Adobe After Effects 7 and Flash Professional 8 are poised to become a motion graphics powerhouse. Best of all, you will discover something the authors had discovered by the time they started writing this book...this stuff is fun! Summary of Contents: Creating FLVs using the Video Wizard and the Flash 8 FLV Encoder The Basics of Video Creation Alternate FLV Creation tools: Sorenson Squeeze 4 and Flix Pro 5 Creating Flash Video using the FLV Components Creating a "Talking head" video using Alpha Channels Adding Filters and Blend Effects to Flash Video Masking Video Creating a Video Wall Choosing and Playing Multiple Videos Using the Camera Object to Involve the Audience Actionscript and Flash Video Video Delivery to Cell Phones

Flash 8, Projects for Learning Animation and INteractivity

About this book
Macromedia Flash is fast becoming the Web's most widely used platform for creating rich media with animation and motion graphics, but mastering Flash isn't easy. Most entry-level books teach through simple examples that concentrate on either animation or scripting, but rarely both together. To get the most from Flash 8, you not only need to be proficient in programming/interface design, you need the creativity for story telling and the artistic insights to design fluid animation. Flash 8: Projects for Learning Animation and Interactivityteaches Flash design rather than simply Flash itself. With a standalone series of walkthroughs and tutorials for Flash beginners coming from a graphics field, this book teaches Flash in the context of real-world projects. Rather than learn a Flash tool for the sake of it, you learn which areas of Flash are important, and which are less used, simply by seeing how typical content is actually created. And rather than a text-heavy approach, this graphically rich book leads you through hands-on examples by illustration. Each project in the book starts with goals and broad sketches before moving to design and scripting. This helps you understand design intent-the why of the process-rather than just learning the interfaces and the how of it all. Along the way, you'll create Flash content that includes traditional animation techniques (as seen in full-length animated features), and ActionScript-based interactive animation, such as custom web site interface designs. You also learn how to combine both traditional animation techniques and ActionScript to create feature-rich Flash assets from the ground up. Co-authored by educational developers with years of experience creating compelling content, interfaces, and applications, Flash 8: Projects for Learning Animation and Interactivityoffers a content-driven approach that is also inspiration-driven. You learn because you're accomplishing something tangible, not because you think you need to know how a tool works. If you want to understand how various features of Flash come together to create a final end design, this book provides you with both the insight and the know-how.

I don't normally write reviews, although I read a lot of them and find them useful. So I'm writing this just because i read the bad reviews for this product and almost bought the more expensive ones; but decided on this one to save some money. My worry was that to save a few bucks I was risking breaking a tape or a VCR per the other review's comments.I am pretty sure the reason they had problems is they didn't use it properly. The instructions are pretty bad, and if you don't use it right it will break a tape and/or mess up your VCR. So here is the way to use it;the instructions just say open the cover, put in the tape, and close the cover; but its a lot more than that.1. open the cover, and you'll see two posts sticking up that are spring loaded. It is very important you don't do what I did, which was figure those go in front of the tape, so I pushed them open and dropped the tape so the posts were on the outside of the tape. 0 5/5 MaryL. - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) If you are going to order this adapter, BE SURE you DO NOT have an 8mm cassette because this does NOT work with them. I stupidly ordered it without checking and cannot use it for the purpose that I originally bought it, but I can use it with a few others that I have so it wasn't a complete waste of time! :) It was my fault for not checking but I guess I needed it anyway! I got the package in mint condition and it works well for the right cassettes :) 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 28, 2011

(Electronics) After searching the net for a video capture device for my Windows 7 system, I found only 2 choices that claimed to actually work on windows 7. One was a fire-wire device for $200 and the other was the EZcap device. Since I only occasionally convert video, I went for the much cheaper solution. The product works but there is a problem with the sound USB driver included in the package. It did not work!. Found this on You Tube [...]. This shows how to install sound drivers and has link to working driver. Only other problem I saw while digitizing my videos is the sound would drop out momentarily while recording. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 1, 2010

(Electronics) This product disproves the old saying about things that seem too good to be true. This little peanut shaped EZcap and the software that comes with it does the job of products costing hundreds more. It does everything it is advertised to do with a very small learning curve. It comes with a downloadable manual that explains and illustrates exactly how to do everything. I am in the process of downloading years of family video tapes from my VCR to my computer, editing them and making professional looking DVD's with all kinds of neat titles and special effedcts. I have used it on both Vista and Windows 7 computers. A little driver tweak was necessary to get it to work with Windows 7. Shipping took only a couple days and the supplier e-mailed me after I received it to see if I had any questions. At nearly 70 years of age, this little item may be the best value I have ever received for the money spent. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 25, 2010

The Clip+ does everything it needs to, and nothing it doesn't.

I owned the first generation clip, and the new 8gb clip+ retains everything that was great about the first while adding all around refinements.Pros:- Overall build quality has improved, but especially with the clip mechanism.- Files on MicroSD integrate seemlessly with the on board memory.- The volume and power buttons have more ergonomic placement on the device.- Sound quality remains great.- Audiobook files can be sped up slightly to save some "reading" time.- The interface is a little smoother and nicer to move through.- The square trackpad makes it easier to navigate without looking at the player. (good for runners)Cons:- No cap on the MicroSD slot, so that could potentially get dirty. If you don't need gimmicks such as touch screens and web browsers, then this player is quite possibly the best on the market for value, size, and quality. The Clip+ is definitely worth the few extra bucks over what... 4/5 S. Rysdyk (Michigan) - See all my reviews, September 18, 2009

Great upgrade to an already great budget player

0 5/5 Amazon Customer (Somerville, MA USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 4 GB MP3 Player (Black) (Electronics) If all you are looking for is a great sounding, small, cheap mp3 player with a display and expandability options, then the clip + is your best choice. This is very similar to the old clip with the following major differences:- two minor button placement changes (improvement)- UI is a bit smoother (menus scroll now)- volume normalizing/gain- micro-SD slot for up to 16 added gigs (which is huge)- a little thicker, probably due to SD support- clip is no longer removable (depending on your preference, this is a good or bad thing-guess you could just rip it off and file it down if you wanted to)As always, it sounds great and blows away the iPod Shuffle in terms of value. So light and small--great for the gym. If you need your mp3 player to play games, surf the internet or serve double purpose as a grocery list, then this isn't for you, but if you're on a budget or just need something that plays music and does so well, this is the one. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 9, 2009

Really nice technical improvements, but didn't need to "fix" the outside of it.

So recently, because I love my Sansa Clip so much for exercising, and I thought I could use one more, I picked one of these up at Bestbuy. I have used it for about a week so I can't say anything about the longetivity of the new Clip Plus, but I can tell you about everything else. First I will give you the cons since there is only one and that is also only about preference. I personally LOVED the sleek look of the original sansa clip, but that has been replaced with a sort of glittery finish on the front. That is about it and to add to this, everything else from the outside such as the plastic used has been revamped to feel better in your hands and is just overall better quality. Now on to the most important part, the features. The main thing that sets this apart from the original clip is the addition of a microSD card slot. This can take up to a 32gb microSD card, so if you were to pair one with this, you could potentially get a 36(!)gb memory for this puny little item. That is the... 5/5 Pramod Agrawal - See all my reviews, September 19, 2009

    Okay for What You Pay

I purchased these to see if I could find a better way of documenting processes that were somewhat complex and that were not done frequently. Of course, you can always write stuff down, or record audio and video with a hand-held camera. Writing is too hard for me and too often you cannot go back later and understand what you wrote. An audio/video recording would be okay except that you only have one hand free since you have to, in general, hold the camera. So, a solution might be to use glasses like these to record audio/video without having to actually hold the camera. Surprisingly, when I started looking at these, there seem to be quite a selection of products and widely varying prices. I decided to not buy the cheapest and bought these glasses based upon mostly "good" reviews and the price was okay for "testing".I thought the quality was quite good. As noted by a previous reviewer, the instructions are just about useless, but, you can figure out most... 4/5 G. Linn (Tampa, FL) - See all my reviews, July 30, 2013

Sort of OK! They work for video, but....

Hi,I ordered these because like most that have ordered them, want a way to record video so they have their hands free.I ordered them to take videos of my dog running after my new RC Monster Truck. I have to hold the RC Controller so I can safely drive the truck, so my hands are not free to hold a video camera.I tried the glasses today and it does work but the reviews are correct the video was over saturated and too bright, it was a cloudy day out. But it was good enough for my needs.I am trying to find out how to adjust the time stamp that get put in the video. It's listing the year as 1980?So there is nothing in the instructions on how to make those adjustments.I don't even know who to contact to find out more on usage. But for the price, which was lowered after I purchased my unit, is not bad, to just play around with them and don't expect great quality. Heck, it's selling for $20. Remember when... 3/5 Robert "SciFi crazy! Geek! Love my dog, Dylan... (Long Island City, New York, United States) - See all my reviews, October 11, 2013

And I've been anxiously awaiting this games arrival for a long time, as I pre-ordered is the second it was available on amazon. I've played every entry since double dash and have loved each one equally since, as they all brought new ideas to the table. Mario Kart 8 takes the reigns as my favorite title in the series though, no question! This has got to be THE best racing game Nintendo has ever created. It's so much more tasty and rich than the ones before it.So first off, the gamepad controls for this game feel very nice. More of the same, plus more! All of it pristine and fun.

The new levitation and under-water parts are as smooth as one would expect. There wasn't much of a learning curve. The new tracks, karts, and characters are all wonderful additions plus there are returning favorites. If you liked Mario Kart in the past, this is another fantastic entry into the series.Additionally, the game looks gorgeous in full HD with 1080p at 60f/s. There are little attentions to detail around every turn. The new courses honor thwomps and other secondary characters in creative ways that feel right.Unlike Sonic all-star racing, this game was easy to pick up and play from the start. You will probably win your first cup on your first try, but it gets harder. Sonic gave me control issues that required too much unnecessary skill and practice before I even started to make some headway in the game. The gamepad is integrated well into the game, not forcing anything unneeded, but providing extra awesome. Just had 13 people over at my house

0 5/5 AuhsojSivart - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Mario Kart 8 - Nintendo Wii U (Video Game) And we were able to play Mario Kart 8 nonstop for about 7 hours. There aren't too many games that can create that much replayability and fun for that long for that 13 people ranging from ages 11 to 45. It's a must-buy if you have a Wii U and is good enough that, as long as you have people to play with, it's worth buying the system just to play this game. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 1, 2014
