Foundation Flash 8 Video

Creator: Tom Green, Jordan L. Chilcott | 2006-06-19

In fact, you really can't play any FLV file in a web page unless it is played through a Flash SWF. Flash Professional 8 makes the addition of video to a Flash movie even easier and more intuitive than in the past.

Publisher: Friends of Ed

About this book
In this book you'll learn: The basics of video editing using Movie Maker 2, iMovie, and more How to import your video into Flash How to work with Flash Video components Several of the new features of Flash 8, including alpha channels, filters, and blends How to master several amazing video effects, such as green screen superimposing, video walls, getting your users into the thick of the action with webcams, and much more! Do you want to master Flash video work, and work your way toward creating awesome, mind-blowing, interactive web applications? Well, don't go any furtherthis full color book is all you need to step into the future. When Flash Professional 8 was released, it seemed as if we'd embarked on a web video revolution almost overnight. Up until then, web video was a morass of competing players, technologies, standards, codecs, and playback quality. The inclusion of the On2 VP6 codec, the FLV Playback component, alpha channel video, and the Flash 8 Video Encoder has ended the infancy of web video, creating an instant benchmark with no stops in between. And this book is the ultimate guide to Flash 8 videoit offers practical advice, technical guidance, and a full series of creative projects ranging from the dead simple to the complex in a manner that talks to you as an equal and makes only one assumption: basic familiarity with the Flash interface. We start with the basicshow to edit video in some of the most popular packages available (such as iMovie and Movie Maker 2) and create a Flash video file and import it into Flash. Next, we move on to the good stuffcreating a custom video player; creating an alpha channel video and using it in some spectacular projects; turning your creativity loose by applying filters and blend effects to video using the Flash interface and ActionScript; creating video walls, menus, and stunning masking effects; and exploring how Adobe After Effects 7 and Flash Professional 8 are poised to become a motion graphics powerhouse. Best of all, you will discover something the authors had discovered by the time they started writing this book...this stuff is fun! Summary of Contents: Creating FLVs using the Video Wizard and the Flash 8 FLV Encoder The Basics of Video Creation Alternate FLV Creation tools: Sorenson Squeeze 4 and Flix Pro 5 Creating Flash Video using the FLV Components Creating a "Talking head" video using Alpha Channels Adding Filters and Blend Effects to Flash Video Masking Video Creating a Video Wall Choosing and Playing Multiple Videos Using the Camera Object to Involve the Audience Actionscript and Flash Video Video Delivery to Cell Phones

Flash 8, Projects for Learning Animation and INteractivity

Publisher: O'Reilly Media

About this book
Macromedia Flash is fast becoming the Web's most widely used platform for creating rich media with animation and motion graphics, but mastering Flash isn't easy. Most entry-level books teach through simple examples that concentrate on either animation or scripting, but rarely both together. To get the most from Flash 8, you not only need to be proficient in programming/interface design, you need the creativity for story telling and the artistic insights to design fluid animation. Flash 8: Projects for Learning Animation and Interactivityteaches Flash design rather than simply Flash itself. With a standalone series of walkthroughs and tutorials for Flash beginners coming from a graphics field, this book teaches Flash in the context of real-world projects. Rather than learn a Flash tool for the sake of it, you learn which areas of Flash are important, and which are less used, simply by seeing how typical content is actually created. And rather than a text-heavy approach, this graphically rich book leads you through hands-on examples by illustration. Each project in the book starts with goals and broad sketches before moving to design and scripting. This helps you understand design intent-the why of the process-rather than just learning the interfaces and the how of it all. Along the way, you'll create Flash content that includes traditional animation techniques (as seen in full-length animated features), and ActionScript-based interactive animation, such as custom web site interface designs. You also learn how to combine both traditional animation techniques and ActionScript to create feature-rich Flash assets from the ground up. Co-authored by educational developers with years of experience creating compelling content, interfaces, and applications, Flash 8: Projects for Learning Animation and Interactivityoffers a content-driven approach that is also inspiration-driven. You learn because you're accomplishing something tangible, not because you think you need to know how a tool works. If you want to understand how various features of Flash come together to create a final end design, this book provides you with both the insight and the know-how.

This review is from: AVerMedia C039 DVD EZMaker 7 - convert VHS/8mm/Hi8 to DVD with ease (Electronics) We needed to transfer all our old VHS home videos to digital format. We looked into companies that do it for you, but it was $30 or more PER TAPE! We decided to try out this product first, and it's worked beautifully! Definitely worth the money - it saved us so much in the long run to be able to convert our videos ourselves. The only caution I would give is to be sure you have enough room on your computer hard drive (or an external drive) to store the large raw files that it produces before you edit them. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 6, 2012

Must know what you are doing

The included software loaded slowly, but works OK. A little slow, but I guess that's to impel one to buy the upgraded software. To hook up to a VCR, you'll need a patch cord between the VCR and included cords. The cords in the box are female, and so are the jacks on the VCR, so you'll need three male patch cords (two audio, one video).I am a novice when it comes to converting VHS to DVD, so it would be nice if the free software came with a help file. I have had zero luck after two attempts of actually writing a DVD that can be read by my DVD player. The final step of writing to the DVD never completes, even after waiting 7 hours to write a 16-minute long video.Pros: easy (but slow) installation of software; low costCons: need patch cords; no help file in software; very slow writing of DVD.December 10 update: I was finally able to make a straight copy from VHS to DVD fairly reliably. Simple, fast, easy, GOOD!

I am about to go and write a BAD review for a similar item, (EasyCAP DC60) which I bought prior to ordering the AVerMedia C039. If this review spares one person from making the similar mistake, I'll be glad.Like lots of folks out there, I have old personal videos on VHS, VHS-C, and 8mm tape, and I'd like to convert them to digital to share and store. The cost of having that done is a bit off-putting, and you just have to leave off your old tapes (or mail them) with someone and hope they do a good job of it. Having captured video in the past from magnetic media via (now antiquated) capture cards, I took a peek online and found that since then, the hardware has come a long way! Now you can also EASILY capture the sound along with the video (used to be more to that), and it's all in a convenient USB device that's all external.I thought I could save a lot of $ by trying to convert my own videos, with less than a $20 investment, and I assumed I could lick the... 5/5 DiannaCam "DiannaCam" (Neptune) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) The Clip+ does everything it needs to, and nothing it doesn't.

I owned the first generation clip, and the new 8gb clip+ retains everything that was great about the first while adding all around refinements.Pros:- Overall build quality has improved, but especially with the clip mechanism.- Files on MicroSD integrate seemlessly with the on board memory.- The volume and power buttons have more ergonomic placement on the device.- Sound quality remains great.- Audiobook files can be sped up slightly to save some "reading" time.- The interface is a little smoother and nicer to move through.- The square trackpad makes it easier to navigate without looking at the player. (good for runners)Cons:- No cap on the MicroSD slot, so that could potentially get dirty. If you don't need gimmicks such as touch screens and web browsers, then this player is quite possibly the best on the market for value, size, and quality. The Clip+ is definitely worth the few extra bucks over what... 4/5 S. Rysdyk (Michigan) - See all my reviews, September 18, 2009

Great upgrade to an already great budget player

0 5/5 Amazon Customer (Somerville, MA USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 4 GB MP3 Player (Black) (Electronics) If all you are looking for is a great sounding, small, cheap mp3 player with a display and expandability options, then the clip + is your best choice. This is very similar to the old clip with the following major differences:- two minor button placement changes (improvement)- UI is a bit smoother (menus scroll now)- volume normalizing/gain- micro-SD slot for up to 16 added gigs (which is huge)- a little thicker, probably due to SD support- clip is no longer removable (depending on your preference, this is a good or bad thing-guess you could just rip it off and file it down if you wanted to)As always, it sounds great and blows away the iPod Shuffle in terms of value. So light and small--great for the gym. If you need your mp3 player to play games, surf the internet or serve double purpose as a grocery list, then this isn't for you, but if you're on a budget or just need something that plays music and does so well, this is the one. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 9, 2009

Really nice technical improvements, but didn't need to "fix" the outside of it.

So recently, because I love my Sansa Clip so much for exercising, and I thought I could use one more, I picked one of these up at Bestbuy. I have used it for about a week so I can't say anything about the longetivity of the new Clip Plus, but I can tell you about everything else. First I will give you the cons since there is only one and that is also only about preference. I personally LOVED the sleek look of the original sansa clip, but that has been replaced with a sort of glittery finish on the front. That is about it and to add to this, everything else from the outside such as the plastic used has been revamped to feel better in your hands and is just overall better quality. Now on to the most important part, the features. The main thing that sets this apart from the original clip is the addition of a microSD card slot. This can take up to a 32gb microSD card, so if you were to pair one with this, you could potentially get a 36(!)gb memory for this puny little item. That is the... 5/5 Pramod Agrawal - See all my reviews, September 19, 2009

Like most people, I bought a Wii U for the New Smash Bros, Zelda, Animal Crossing and so on. And I've been anxiously awaiting this games arrival for a long time, as I pre-ordered is the second it was available on amazon. The last game I can say I truly enjoyed on the Wii U, was Super Mario 3D World, and boy am I glad the wait for a new great game is over. This game is AMAZING! I've played every entry since double dash and have loved each one equally since, as they all brought new ideas to the table. Mario Kart 8 takes the reigns as my favorite title in the series though, no question! This has got to be THE best racing game Nintendo has ever created. It's so much more tasty and rich than the ones before it.I'm gonna keep this review short and sweet though since I haven't played the game to its entirety just yet (I got it couple of hours ago) I've just been seeing troll reviews here on amazon, and i feel like someone's gotta save the day! The new levitation and under-water parts are as smooth as one would expect. There wasn't much of a learning curve. The new tracks, karts, and characters are all wonderful additions plus there are returning favorites. Kids and Parents will love this game

My 5 yr old son loves to play this game. Okay, I love to play it too! It's a lot of fun and the online racing helps build some competitive nature in my son. Whenever I'm unable to play the game with him, and he's tired of beating up on the computers, it helps that he can go online to play against other people. He can vote for what map he wants to play, and its randomly selected so there's no Tyranny of the Majority going on (where a single map may get chosen indefinitely). There are a lot of variations of karts, gliders, wheels to unlock, as well as characters. I've heard rumors there may be DLC coming for the game as well - I don't know what it will consist of but I'm sure my son will be begging me to buy it, and I probably will. The replay value is very high, and if your kids have friends, they will all enjoy playing this game together.I wish they had a breakdown of how each kart/wheel/glider affects the handling, top speed, and acceleration, but I guess Nintendo just... 5/5 Oland T. A great player, but aspect ratios are messed up on mp4 material

The design of this player is really good. However, when used on the Kindle Fire to play my own mp4 files of films and shows there is a major problem. The problem is that mp4-encoded films that are in widescreen format are force-fitted to the Fire's screen in a way that messes up the displayed aspect ratio. All the films that I have tried to play were rendered with an aspect ratio that was about 16% too "tall", causing everything to look stretched vertically. For instance, a film with a true aspect ratio (correctly rendered from the same mp4 file as 2.385:1 on my PC and on an iPad) was rendered on the Fire as 2.068:1. Another film that had a true aspect ratio of 2.237:1 was rendered as 1.987:1. I find this "squeezing" of the image to be so annoying that I have given up trying to watch films on the Fire using my own mp4 files. (Amazon-coded films, bought from Amazon, do not suffer from this problem.)I suspect that the root cause lies within Amazon's code, not in this... 4/5 M. P. Doesn't work and hardly free

0 1/5 dromero2816 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Avia Media Player (Chromecast) (App) Doesn't work unless you pay for add ons. They claim they need your credit card only to prove you live in the US, but then by default signs you up for a 5 day trial that automatically bills the acct if you don't cancel. When you go to cancel online, they then want to charge the card a dollar for "express cancellation". Otherwise it can take up to 3 business days to cancel it. Of course the 5 day trial isn't "business days" so you better cancel in advance or plan to get held for ransom. The other choice to cancel quicker is to call customer service- you can guess the speedy response you get after you press 1 for cancellations.. These are shady business practices at best. I recommend you hold out for an honest provider. Oh yeah- then after all that I got a black screen that wouldn't play anything- apparently you have to purchase add-ons to make it work. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 5, 2014
