This review is from: Samsung HMX-F90 Black Camcorder with 2.7" LCD Screen and HD Video Recording (Import) + 10pc Bundle 32GB Deluxe Accessory Kit w/ HeroFiber® Ultra Gentle Cleaning Cloth (Camera) The order arrived early and came packed with everything it promised. I camcorder has a lot of features (some I haven't used yet), the tri-pod is full sized, the memory has tons of space, the battery lasts a long time on one charge, the HDMI is a plus for viewing your recordings on the big screen, I could go on an on. The camcorder also takes stills as well. It may not be the latest model on the market but it works just fine. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 22, 2014

0 5/5 Nicole Fitch - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Samsung HMX-F90 Black Camcorder with 2.7" LCD Screen and HD Video Recording (Import) + 10pc Bundle 32GB Deluxe Accessory Kit w/ HeroFiber® Ultra Gentle Cleaning Cloth (Camera) I Purchased to film my sons lacrosse games for college coaches. It's worked out perfectly. It has a ton of features and a super far zoom. The movie quality is great. The tripod is nice quality and adjusts to stand in the bleachers or on the ground. The memory stick holds a ton of video, although I empty it after each game to be sure. The battery life is pretty good, I can record a whole lacrosse game 1 1/2-2 hours without issue. I forgot to charge it once and only got half way through the next game, so about 3 hours record time with the screen running the whole time. This is an excellent value! I was a bit worried about such a low price but I am very impressed. BUY IT! You wont regret it! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 16, 2014

Works fine after calls to Toshiba

I bought this DVD recorder to copy many old family home movies on videocassettes to DVDs. Our home movies date back to 1988. After some advice from customer service at Toshiba, I have been able to use the recorder to dub my old home movies successfully to DVDs.Like several other users, I found that when I followed the instructions for dubbing to DVDs, the recorder showed a "Barred" icon, a slashed red circle. After several attempts with different brands of DVD disks, I called Toshiba. I got some very helpful advice from the first customer service agent at Toshiba, but I was still unable to resolve the problem. I called back and talked to another agent, who was able to help me resolve the recording issues. Both customer service agents at Toshiba were very knowledgeable and did an excellent job of explaining their advice. I was very satisfied with Toshiba customer service. I will summarize the advice below so that other people who have difficulties with the recorder... 4/5 G. B. Packert "poetry reader" (Lynchburg, VA USA) - See all my reviews, December 16, 2009

Just plug, play, and record! Just skip step #7 on page 50!

Unit doesn't come with HDMI cables, which is normal, so I used my own and plugged it into my Samsung HDTV. It plays my old VHS wonderfully! I can actually hear the sound on my old Disney movies ... a problem I was having with my old Panasonic VHS.I then tested it on recording/dubbing my old home videos on VHS to DVD. I had problems because I got the red circle with the slash through it. So I called up Toshiba customer service and after a few button pushing of 1's, 2's, and 3's, I was connected to a representative who told me to skip step #7 on page 50.Step 7 is the "press [dvd], then press [rec mode] ..." I basically skipped that step and went straight to the press dubbing button and everything works perfectly! The catch with not being able to use step 7 is I have to sit and watch the entire VHS so I can hit the "stop" button again. But if I do fall asleep dubbing, the VCR to DVD duplication automatically stops if it senses no image for more... 4/5 Sunny (OC, California) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great VHS/DVD Recorder

0 5/5 Amazon Customer "Mike in Lakewood" (Lakewood, OH USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Toshiba DVR620 DVD/VHS Recorder (Black) (Electronics) I have used this recorder over the last three months to copy all my home VHS tapes to DVD. Previous reviews of other Toshiba VHS/DVD recorders complained about problems with created DVD's playing in other devices. Also complaints of complicated manual instructions and complicated remote controls. I have found this new recorder to be easy to use. The manual is somewhat complicated but easy to follow once you try a few recordings. The remote control was easy to use. There is one HDMI output cable for both DVD and VHS replay. The quality of the replay in standard play speed is good for my recorded DVD's. The quality of store bought DVD's was excellant. The upconvert to 1080 is a good feature. The price was great. Bravo to Toshiba. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 11, 2009

Cheap in every sense of the word

0 2/5 Minzoku Bokumetsu (beyond the far reaches of your closet) - See all my reviews This review is from: Vivitar DVR-508 HD High Definition Digital Video Camcorder Blue (Electronics) I got this on clearance for $15 (50% off), which undoubtedly speaks volumes right there. To make a long story short, it's good for taking really quick video like, "Hey guys, this is my new cat!" If you're looking for anything archival, look a little harder. Even in a well-lit room, it doesn't pick up light very well, and even with three brand new AAA batteries I only got about five seconds of video before it said it wanted new batteries. (To be fair, they're rechargeables, so I don't know if that's a factor since all I have are rechargeables.)But it's cheap, in EVERY sense of the word, so what do you want. If you want something that lasts, look for something with an optional POWER CABLE at the very least, or you'll be feeding the battery monster for not much return on your investment. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 3, 2012

Nice Economical DVR but not secure for remote viewing

0 4/5 G Man (Williamsville, NY USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Vonnic DVR-C1104SEFD Standalone DVR (Black) (Electronics) For the price, you can't beat this DVR. It works very well and has many nice features. Just add a low cost SATA drive and you have yourself a nice economical video surveillance DVR.If you want to connect your DVR to internet for remote viewing, be very careful were you place your cameras! The DVR comes with three default user accounts that cannot be deleted. I would imagine that the factory has full access to these default accounts. Another flaw is the password length is very weak. Very easy for a hacker to crack, no matter what what combination password you use.Keeping those points in mind, just don't point your cameras at anything you don't want the general public to see and you could still use the remote viewing option safely; or just keep the DVR off the Web and use it for local viewing only. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 18, 2013

Inexpensive DVR for my home security cameras

    0 5/5 Carol M. Rogers - See all my reviews, April 30, 2014

Perfect, does what it's supposed to.

I was leary about the price, but my IP camera server died and I needed a low cost replacement. I ordered a 500gb sata drive from Amazon for $47 to go with this. I have four Swann Cameras connected to it.Bottom line is it works and was very easy to set up in terms of the hardware. As far as connecting to my android/setting up remote viewing, I had to resort to a youtube video...it has vonnic 1000 in the title and is easy to find. It walks you through setting up your router. This DVR uses a seperate "Media" port setting. The best apps I found for this DVR are IPcam (pro) and MEyePro. They work great. The Manual for this product is the typical Chinglish and largely useless, but fortunately it comes with a mouse and the interface is well designed and easy to navigate.Hardware setup: Easy. Installed hard drive with a few screws, attached cables (included with DVR), attached cameras, booted it up and it worked.
