    Rating (59 reviews):

    Great for what it is

This is a quirky little lens that will give you unconventional but appealing results. I use it with my E-PL2. It is very fast and the focal length is very useful for m4/3. However, the results are pretty terrible by conventional standards. Sharpness is pretty good in the center but extremely poor towards the edges. There is considerable vignetting. At larger apertures, it is fairly smooth and pleasing (if you like the effect in general), but when you stop down (especially to f8, the smallest marked aperture) it has a much harder transition and I avoid it. The vignetting is much less at aspect ratios other than the native 4:3. With the large maximum aperture, you can get very narrow depth of field especially at close distances, and the bokeh is pretty crazy and swirly. The build of both lens and adapter is all metal, and while it doesn't feel particularly high quality, it doesn't feel too cheap either. The aperture and focus rings turn smoothly enough. Strangely... 5/5 Curtis Menton - See all my reviews, August 11, 2011

Fun, Fast, Funky, with lots of Flare

This Fujian 35mm 1.7 C-mount CCTV lens with Micro Four Thirds adapter is the best $35 I ever spent on a brand new lens. It's fun to use, if you enjoy manual focus lenses. The focus movement is smooth. At f/1.7 it a fast lens so it can be useful in low light situations. However, this lens is unpredictably prone to huge amounts of flare that often ruins the shot. I think it has 37mm filter threading so if you spent another $10 for a 37mm lens hood (I didn't) you might be able to avoid some of the conditions that make it flare. The filter threading does not rotate with the focus ring, so it looks like you could use a rectangular hood. Even so, that might not help. Closing down the aperture simply draws the flare into the center of the shot. The aperture is stepless, which could be useful for video on occasion. The aperture settings are not marked to a reference point so it's not easy to tell exactly what setting you're on. I scratched an aperture reference point... 3/5 Lincoln F. This lens is good for Portrait Photography, but it not good for Landscape Photography. The sharpness in the center is fine, but the border is soft. It looks like a tilt lens.
